Cut for me, this cabochon has great color definition, high polish all around, flat inner and outer girdles, flat back. The dome is in the middle (thickest part of the crescent), and the thickness tapers down to the points, which are approx. 3mm thick/very strong and usable!
Maligano Jasper is an all-natural brecciated (made of large angular pieces of rock) stone that forms in ancient volcanic hot spring areas. It is named after a small village in Sulawesi, Indonesia, (part of the four Greater Sunda Islands). This material was originally discovered in 2012 and was introduced to the US, and quickly became a hit. Colors range from red, orange, beige, yellow, white, and black.
